HAND-TIED BOUQUETS & BUNCHES
“I want to do everything possible to help florists feel
excited and confident in their work” Philippa
Filmed in our Sussex studio, we are excited to launch our next in the series of Digital Workshops - Hand-Tied Bouquets & Bunches - across five chapters, each an individual film so you can easily watch and learn in easily manageable lessons. We help you master these different hand-tied styles. We teach you how create a variety of shapes - compact, wild, hand gathered and asymmetrical - across three different colour ways. We explain how to perfect a spiral, how to master a relaxed hand-gathered shape, select the best seasonal flowers and foliage and how to bring great colour combinations together. At the end of the workshop you will have the lifelong skills to create this full array of very different shaped hand-tied bouquets. We only include key steps and unique tips that we have learnt and formulated along the way, all with our down to earth approach to floristry.
Once you have pre-ordered the workshop, you will receive a link shortly after midday on Wednesday 27th to watch all five workshops immediately. We will also send you a link via email, to watch each of the workshops again and again on any of your devices. You can pause, rewind and watch your workshops as many times as you wish. We film in high definition and we stream the films for you, so you never need to worry about downloading and storing large files.
This workshop is perfect for complete beginners through to professional florists looking to perfect their skills when it comes to designing and creating hand tied bouquets and bunches.
AUBERGINE & PURPLE HAND TIE
”How to combine bold, rich colours and create a hand-tied design with confidence that emulates a wild garden”
Moody tones, with wild, meadow flowers; mastering a design with plenty of movement and texture. We look at conditioning and how to prepare each stem, how to combine different shaped flowers together and complementary colour-ways. Where to position and place each flower to create depth and focus throughout.
WILD & WHIMSICAL HAND TIE, WHITE & GREEN
”How to effortlessly master wild, loose and whimsical hand-gathered bunches”
Philippa and Phoebe demonstrate the mechanics and tools, with unique tips, behind a wild and whimsical shape. Phoebe joined us with a huge passion for floristry, but without prior professional experience, she has since worked in our Selfridges concession, as part of our Events team and now within our lifestyle/product team, becoming an accomplished florist, with a natural wild style. We finish this bouquet with a great way to wrap your flowers.
COMPACT HAND TIE, WHITE & GREEN
”A detailed look at each step, to ensure you perfect a spiral hand-tie every time”
A detailed look at creating a hand-tied compact bunch. We slow the process down and in straightforward and clear steps, we show you exactly how and where to place each stem to ensure you can master a classic spiral. This is a key skill and forms the basis to many flower designs.
ASYMMETRICAL HAND TIE, WHITE & GREEN
”Stepping away from the traditional spiral, how to achieve the correct placement of stems for an asymmetrical design, to help you expand your bouquet making skills”
Once you have mastered a classic spiral, it is important to also be able to create a more relaxed, hand gathered style. We show you how to accomplish this shape, with a wild, asymmetrical bouquet. We purposefully use exactly the same flowers as in the compact hand tie, to demonstrate the impact a different technique has, when using the same flowers.
BRIGHT & BOLD WILD HAND TIE
”How to combine unusual colour combinations, whilst still creating an elegant design”
An alternative to the muted, elegant colours in the previous designs, here we look at a bold, wild, colourful combination. We explain the importance of the placement of each stem to ensure the colours work in harmony, as part of the greater design, highlighting the different textures and shapes of each stem.
”Take a look at the mood boards we create for all our designs, how we take inspiration from nature, incorporating unusual ideas into our work, in turn to help you master unique ideas in your own work”
A look at all the mood boards behind each bouquet design, the colours, shapes and textures that inspired them. This style of mood board creating will be useful for your own bouquet planning, it will help you to bring strong documents together for clients or help give you direction for your own designs.
