HONEYSUCKLE & GARDEN ROSES

WILD & LOOSE VASE ARRANGEMENT TUTORIAL

A perfect mixture of stems with their blush/apricot tones. In this eight minute video Tutorial below, I demonstrate a step-by-step guide for a summer vase design. The rambling, long reaching vines/branches of the honeysuckle, combined with the softness of the garden roses, creates a beautifully relaxed arrangement, full of fragrance and sunshine colours.

TO FOLLOW THE TUTORIAL IN THE VIDEO, YOU WILL NEED:
One medium sized tapered vase/urn - the one I used came from Neptune
Twelve honeysuckle branches
Seven garden roses - I used the variety Emma Woodhouse
Floristry scissors

Honeysuckle Care Guide

Using clean and sharp secateurs, cut the stem on an angle and add a further cut, creating a neat vertical split up the end of the stem (approx. 2-3cm long) and place immediately into water. Leave the stems sitting in plenty of water, in a cool space, ideally overnight, before you create your design.

Rambling Branches & Vines…

FOR WILD ARRANGEMENTS - I also love CLIMBING CLEMATIS (see image), albeit more delicate than honeysuckle, these stems give a fabulous movement and length to designs. Another delicate climbing tendril, and beautiful in vase arrangements, are SWEET PEA TENDRILS. Stems of RAMBLING ROSES give a beautiful pop of colour in arrangements. And for something quite different, the deep moody tones of HYACINTH BEAN VINES add a unique shape to designs, also great for hand ties.
