Since we shared our initial episode on Chat GPT, we’ve been flooded with questions and I would love to take you through all of these, sharing my answers.

The consensus is definitely that many think of ChatGPT as a dirty secret that few want to admit using, it’s almost like we are cheating and trying to pull the wool over our customer’s eyes, but I would love to reframe this idea and instead help you to see ChatGPT as a brilliant time saving and brainstorming partner within your business, one that helps you with the more mundane tasks, helping you to whizz through these and return your focus to nurturing your audience, building and growing your brand and evolving your incredible offerings.

And for others, ChatGPT can seem daunting and a yet another distraction, another tool that we need to understand, and it can feel seriously overwhelming. We might test it, find it a little baffling and then simply move on.

But I have also heard from plenty that ChatGPT, like for me, has been an incredible game changer. It has seriously sped up my copywriting, it has led to far greater levels of creativity, I no longer feel intimated by blank pages when I am thinking of the next topic to write for our Journal posts or Newsletters, and it has seriously helped me to genuinely love writing, something that previously has never been a strength of mine, until now.

DEMYSTIFYING CHATGPT

Today’s episode is all about demystifying ChatGPT for your business, as I talk through some of the most asked questions we received.

If you are completely new to ChatGPT or as a quick reminder, Chat GPT is it’s an AI platform that will assist you with an incredible amount of research, if used effectively, it will provide you with ideas for a variety of different topics, it can become your writing assistant and it can work as an editor, available 24/7, to guide you through correcting any mistakes … it can help you with any form of copy for your business, from newsletters, to social media captions, to website copy, to more precise tasks like refining role descriptions.

For me, it has been an incredible support when it has come to brainstorming ideas, gathering research, proofreading and writing introductions, summaries and quick overviews. It has honestly been a game changer; it saves me a huge amount of time and it has increased my own creativity. Often I have some pretty crazy ideas, and I have found ChatGPT to be a helpful sounding board, to help me rationalise some of the slightly more out there ideas, before I have suggested them to the team. It has never held me back, in fact, I have found that I have been a little bolder with my more recent ideas.

 
 
 
Chat GPT is an aid, an assistant, a speed writer, a copy writer, and an internet researcher. It’s a time saver and when used well it’s a phenomenally powerful system.
 

Once you reach the end of this episode, take a few extra minutes to listen to the first ChatGPT episode, as I share more about the ways the AI platform has helped me, and exactly how to use it effectively. There are very clear do’s and don’t’s, as you want to ensure you keep your voice at all times, and not fall into the trap of creating generic messages that I am seeing more and more. I want to make sure that never happens to you.

It’s essential to you keep your voice unique and distinct, so you can maintain and build your close relationships with your audience. It’s so crucial that you use the system effectively. It’s not about cutting corners, it’s about increasing your creativity and improving your efficiency, so you can spend more time with your customers and the day-to-day work on your business.

 
... but it will never, ever replace you, nor your brand voice.It is not strategic, it doesn’t understand your incredible services, it doesn’t know who your audience is, and who your customers are. It doesn’t know your unique stories or what your community want to hear, what resonates with them the most and what moves them to support you and purchase your offerings.
 

1. Will chatgpt take over our roles?

First question that came up several times, was around the anxiety of AI, it’s definitely the elephant in the room whenever we talk about AI, especially ChatGPT. And that’s the question of job security and uniqueness in our businesses. Will this clever AI step into our shoes and walk away with our jobs?

Now, I know, I know... it sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi film, right? Robots taking over. But let’s ground ourselves in reality for a moment. And I’m specifically talking about ChatGPT from the point of view of small business owners, where there simply isn’t budget in place for a full-time copywriter, and as the founder and owner, and ultimately the one in charge, you are juggling multiple roles. ChatGPT isn’t here to take away your job or make you any less essential to your own business. Definitely not. It’s here to support and help, and very much be your assistant and brainstorming partner.

I'll share a story with you. When I first started using ChatGPT, there was this tiny voice in my head that kept asking, “Are you about to make yourself redundant here?” But here's the thing – not only did that most certainly not happen, I found myself achieving so much more and doing more of the work I love. The creative stuff, the strategy, the personal connections with my customers – all the irreplaceable human part of the business, that I know elevates us and makes us hugely unique and why we have such a strong connection with our community.

It’s great for drafting those initial ideas, for getting the ball rolling on content, or even for churning out those first drafts of emails that we all know can eat into our precious time.

But, and this is a big but, it doesn't know your story, your passion, or your incredible examples and the reasons behind what you are doing, it doesn’t understand what drives you forward and keeps you motivated within your business. And that, my friends, is where you shine. ChatGPT doesn't replace; it solely enhances.

2. CAN CHATGPT HELP US WITH BIG IDEAS?

Next up, can ChatGPT really be creative or help us to come up with more unique and thinking outside the box ideas?

We all know that creativity isn't just about splashes of paint on a canvas, bringing the most perfect, seasonal flowers together or a wild idea that comes to you at 2am when you can’t sleep. It's about connecting dots in ways that haven’t been done before. And yes, ChatGPT can absolutely serve as a springboard for that. It's like having a brainstorming buddy who never gets tired.

I've thrown so many different ideas at the platform and although I’m hugely fortunate to work with an incredible group of people who only encourage some of my somewhat wilder and huge ideas; still as comfortable as I feel, I don’t necessarily share all my ideas, and this is where ChatGPT plays such a helpful role. Without judgement and at any time of the day, I can dump all my ideas on a specific topic, and it can help me to make sense of them, which helps to give me clarity and focus, before I discuss them with my team.

The other evening for example, I had this idea of further niching down our target audience, to really help and support those who would love work from home. It made sense to me, particularly as that has always been one of my goals from initially setting up my own business, and through a series of questions, I had a phenomenal response, which helped me to understand and put into words what I wanted to discuss with the team. Without any bias, it gave me a list of pros and cons, and when I pushed further, it provided some incredible statistics to really support this idea, so when I came to present this concept to the team, I was able to do it in a concise way, with statistics to support my ideas. It kept our group meeting quick and to the point and easy for us all to unanimously agree and then for us to move forward. Without the help of the platform, I think it would have taken several days to get to where we did in a matter of hours, and for something that is hugely significant in our business, a key strategy for us moving forward.

AI is a tool, and like any tool, it’s how you use it that counts. ChatGPT can churn out hundreds of ideas, but it’s your involvement —your experiences, values, and yes, your creativity—that turns those ideas into something special and something that works perfectly for you, your brand, and your target audience.
 

Going back to some of the off the wall ideas. If for example you are thinking about a new marketing strategy, you can ask for a list of quirky ideas and now, some of them might be completely absurd, but I often find that it’s the crazy ones that lead to some of the best ideas, that you can then make a reality. Sometimes, it's those off-the-wall ideas that spark the real gold. It's not about taking ChatGPT's suggestions at face value but about letting those suggestions inspire you to think differently.

AI is a tool, and like any tool, it's how you use it that counts. ChatGPT can churn out hundreds of ideas, but it's your involvement —your experiences, values, and yes, your creativity—that turns those ideas into something special and something that works perfectly for you, your brand, and your target audience.

3. HOW TO KEEP YOUR UNIQUE VOICE

So, ChatGPT can be a real muse for creativity, but here comes the clincher—keeping your brand’s voice sounding like you, not like a robot. How do you ensure that the content doesn’t wash your unique voice and stories, all the elements of your brand that your customers love? How do we make sure that we keep our true brand’s voice front and centre and maintain that personal touch?

Your brand voice, it's like your fingerprint in the business world – it’s totally unique. And when ChatGPT comes into play, it's like handing it a pen to jot down your thoughts. But here’s the key: you guide the hand. You shape the message. You are the one that brings the final content, messages and stories to life.

So, when ChatGPT gives you a draft, it’s not the end. Even with the most incredibly detailed prompt, it will never truly sound like you, so you must play around with the wording, and make sure it sounds like something you’d actually say. Whether you have a more playful tone or if your focus is something a little more serious, then make sure it’s your own tone. 4. fact checking

Now, let's tackle a crucial step—fact-checking and accuracy. Because let’s face it, ChatGPT is smart, but it doesn’t know everything.

It’s like a library packed with books up to the ceiling. It's got tons of information, but not all of it is up-to-date. And sometimes, a book might be misplaced on the wrong shelf. That's where you come in, with your detective hat on, ready to double check what’s fact and what is not quite accurate.

I have used ChatGPT to gather research data for me, but every time, I have double checked that it is entirely accurate by searching for the original paper or source. You are not necessarily given where the information comes from, you can sometimes ask but often with a quick search online, you can find the original source. Alternatively, you can fact check against latest studies or ask those in your network for their own intel.

Nothing beats a well-researched article or post that you can stand behind, 100% confident in its truth. It’s so important that what we share is factual and correct, particularly when our customers and audience are coming to us for information, as experts in our field.

 
It’s a little like having a full-time editor with you, at all times of the day (or night), whenever you need them.
 

5. HOW TO UTILISE CHATGPT AS PART OF YOUR DAy-to-day

Next up, how do we seamlessly blend AI into your daily business operations to save you time without skimping on quality. This question came up a few times. Is it okay to use ChatGPT for customer service interactions?

Let's break this down.

Picture this: It's a busy day, your inbox is overflowing, you have multiple DMs on social media and along comes AI, ready to lend a hand. But here's the catch – it's still your business, your voice, and your vision. ChatGPT can draft responses, answer FAQs, and even help manage the flow, but it can't replace the warmth of your personal touch.

I'm a firm believer that customer service is absolutely the heart of your business, from replying to enquires via emails, comments under Instagram posts, questions about a particular offering or simply someone taking the time to review your brand. It's all about connection, acknowledgement, empathy, and understanding. That's why I see AI as an incredible assistant. It can handle the routine while you bring the all important understanding and empathy, the personal stories, and those little touches that make your customers feel seen and valued.

You might be wondering how to strike that balance—keeping things efficient without turning into an emotionless bot. Well, it's all about the blend. You can lean on AI to help get the ball rolling, but then step in and make it personal.

6. HOW CHATGPT CAN SAVE TIME?

The next question that we received, how can the AI platform save me time in my daily tasks? ChatGPT is pretty much the Swiss Army knife for tasks that, let's be honest, can be a bit of a drag. Crafting emails, brainstorming blog titles, or even generating reports – it’s got the tools and the extraordinary speed, and you then bring the expertise.

A few days ago, I had a mountain of Instagram captions to write. I was looking at my to-do list a little like it was Everest. Then, enter ChatGPT. I fed it a huge prompt, covering exactly what I would love to cover over the next week, and bam! It churned out caption after caption. I tend to find that it errs on the side of cliché, so every caption needed careful editing, but it gave me the start and a huge step forward, I was no longer staring at a blank piece of paper and it gave me the gentle, positive nudge that I needed.

I saved hours. Hours I could spend on other important elements within my business, and as much as I love Instagram, I’m always looking for ways to simplify and improve my efficiency with the platform. It's definitely not about cutting corners; it's about amplifying your efforts where it counts.

7. CAN CHATGPT HELP WITH COMPLEX TASKS?

Our final question, can I use ChatGPT for complex tasks, for example like writing comprehensive reports, detailed business plans and market research. These can be beasts, and tackling them solo is no small feat. But here's where ChatGPT comes into play. It's like having a brainstorm buddy who’s ready to map out the heavy-lifting part of your project.

For instance, when I was working on a recent business plan, for part of our business, I needed an outline that didn't make me want to pull my hair out. I turned to ChatGPT, laid out what I needed, and it helped me draft an outline that I could then fill out and complete with my own thoughts, ideas, insights and researched data.

Or that time I was staring at a complex project proposal, wondering where to start. I gave ChatGPT the project parameters, and it helped me outline steps I hadn’t even considered. It's like having that extra set of eyes, ones that never get tired and always have a suggestion.

Now, don’t get me wrong. ChatGPT isn’t going to do all the work for you. It's not going to negotiate that contract or charm your clients. That's your arena. But it can lay the groundwork, draft the outlines, and help you organise your thoughts. And then, it’s up to you to edit and make sure it’s the finished piece, edited and refined as you need.
