HOW TO WRAP (& ELEVATE) TULIPS

I have always loved tulips, in fact, before becoming a professional florist, they were by far my favourite stems. They are though often considered quite a plain flower, and despite the incredible and wholly positive movement towards a focus in floristry on seasonal flowers, the mainstream still considers red roses as the most luxurious flower for Valentine’s Day … I wanted therefore to find a way to help elevate beautiful tulips, just a little, with considered wrapping, whilst still very much keeping the focus on the beauty of the flowers themselves.

Simple Foliage Wreath - free mini tutorial

We first shared the free SIMPLE FOLIAGE WREATH mini tutorial last year, with hundreds of thousands of views and positive comments. It was so popular that we have brought it back this year, for everyone to enjoy and I hope hugely benefit from, once again.

Over 25 minutes, I guide you through the core fundamentals of wreath making, to help you create a brilliantly straight-forward and impactful design.

SNOWDROPS & FRAGRANCE BOTTLES

It is very easy to simply walk/drive past dense clumps of snowdrops at the edge of hedgerows and woodlands, and not give them a second thought … but if you take time to stop and study an individual stem, you will notice their magic. Impossibly delicate, yet somehow they thrive in winter storms, seemingly not giving the severe winter weather a second thought …

FESTIVE WREATH - A BEGINNER’S STORY

I invited Chika, a food writer and photographer (and beginner to floristry), to share her wreath-making story.

Chika never thought she would make a festive wreath on her own; natural wreaths are a rarity in Japan - particularly where she lives in Nagano, Central Japan - and she considered herself “terrible” with all things crafts. She decided though this year was the right time to try …

FESTIVE WREATH - A FLORIST’S STORY

I invited Katie to share her wreath-making story. Katie is a professional florist who, during the winter months, offers busy women time to switch off from what awaits them at home and work, challenging their assumptions that they’re not creative and watching as their shoulders drop and faces relax as they get into ‘the zone’.

As with all things green and creative, her story is not so much about the making the wreaths themselves, instead it is about the life and feelings that surrounds it …

Eliza May Pottery

I first met Eliza about ten years ago, when we both lived close to Lewes in East Sussex with our young families. We met over many dinners and I remember Eliza enthusiastically talking about her longing to set up a ceramic studio. Her husband, Mark, manages a family tile business, so ceramics were already in the family and following a move to the North Cotswolds, her new home had a perfect additional studio space in the derelict barn …

Hardy Winter Foliage - care guide

I use a mass of different greenery in designs over the festive period and throughout winter. At this time of year, it’s the evergreen, hardy foliage that is left and available to use, at its most robust, it can last for weeks in designs.

Hardy cut greenery is straightforward to look after and with just a little bit of extra care, it will give you weeks of longevity for a variety of different designs …
